What TAU Membership Means in Practice
More Than a Badge
When people ask me what TAU membership actually means, I usually give them two answers. The first is about what we are building. The second is about what we expect. Both matter - because a union is only worth joining if it gives you something real, and only worth trusting if it demands something real in return.
We have big plans with The Agents Union. Let me tell you what they look like in practice.
A Network That Actually Works
Football is a relationship business, and most agents build their relationships alone - deal by deal, market by market, over many years. TAU exists to shortcut that. When you join, you don’t just get a membership confirmation. You get colleagues in 14 countries: people who know the clubs you don’t, the regulations you haven’t worked under, and the markets you want to enter.
Our job as a union is to turn that network from a list of names into something you actually use. That is what the plans below are for.
Masterclasses: Learning From the Industry Itself
One of the things I am most excited about is our masterclass programme. We are inviting experts from across the football industry - people who have spent their careers inside clubs and governing bodies - to teach us how the other side of the table actually thinks.
How does a club build its squad planning? How does a sporting director react when an agent calls? What makes a negotiation easy to say yes to - and what makes it easy to say no?
These are things you normally learn through years of trial and error. We want to learn them together, as a community, directly from the people who know. When one agent understands how clubs work, he wins a deal. When sixty-four agents understand it, the whole profession gets better.
Gatherings Around the World
We are also creating a bi-yearly event - a gathering held in a different part of the world each time, hosted where football actually lives: at the clubs.
The idea is simple. We meet, we connect, and we learn from the clubs we visit - how they are run, how they develop players, how they see agents. Every edition in a new city means every edition opens a new market for our members, with the relationships to match.
These gatherings are where the union becomes real: not a logo or a website, but a room full of colleagues who have travelled to be there.
The Other Side of the Badge
And then there is the second answer - the one about what we expect.
Being a TAU member in practice means being bound by something. Ethics. Morals. Decency. Carrying our name means every player, club, and colleague who deals with you knows what they can expect: honesty, transparency, and full compliance with the FIFA Football Agent Regulations and the rules of the game.
This is not small print. It is the entire point. The value of the network, the masterclasses, and the gatherings rests on one thing: that a TAU agent can be trusted. Our Member Rules spell it out, and we mean them - membership can be suspended if they are broken.
Built to Last
Networking with purpose. Education from the inside of the industry. Gatherings that open the world. And a standard that makes the badge worth something.
That is what TAU membership means in practice - and we are just getting started. If that sounds like a community you belong in, we would like to hear from you.
